Afghanistan may become Obama’s biggest challenge

As Barack Obama decides to send 17,000 US troops into Afghanistan, it may prove to be a greater problem for his administration than either Iraq or Iran.

President Barack Obama’s decision to send 17,000 US troops into Afghanistan represents the opening move in his new foreign policy. Interestingly, there is no Bush-like talk of supporting democracy in Afghanistan. Obama said the troops were going there essentially to ensure that the country does not become a base for attacks on North America.
