When I was about seven I wanted to be an archaeologist and discover Troy. But then I found out someone had already done that, so I decided to be a writer instead. I’ve worked on a couple of archaeological digs along the way, though. One of those was where I got the idea for my first book, In the Woods.

I trained at Trinity College Dublin and acted for almost ten years, mainly in theatre. The jump back to writing wasn’t planned. I had the idea for In the Woods and I really wanted to know how that story turned out – and no one else was going to write it for me.
