The top street style trends to bookmark from Copenhagen Fashion Week
From maximalist Scandi prints to (un)corporate suiting, here are the top five trends on the ground from CFW
Out-of-office suiting
If there is one thing to know about how Scandinavians like to suit up, it’s that their final destination isn’t the office. Characterised by relaxed but tailored fits, an effortless appeal, and a focus on accessories, it’s worth taking a cue from the below if your corporate suiting needs a refresh.
Scandi prints
A minimalist aesthetic was once the cornerstone of Scandi style. Now, it seems a desire for fun, experimental fashion has risen the ranks and has largely dominated the street style playbook of CFW in recent years. And if there is one rule to how the prints should be worn, it’s that there are none: the more the prints clash or feel unmatched, the better.
Tiebreaker
A break from ties? A tiebreaker. This was very much the sentiment amongst the street style crew this year. From rose corsages to neckscarves and bolo ties, the accessorising was more personal expression than trend-following.
Flat out
Ballet flats, Mary Janes, and lots of sandals. These were the footwear notes that dominated Copenhagen’s street style. And if one style worked the hardest, it was the stud-embellished ballet flats by Alaïa.
Leopard-like
If you consider yourself a Ganni Girl (the name given to the online following of the Danish label Ganni) then you will remember the leopard print petter pan collar blouse that the brand dropped and quickly became a hot ticket. And while that blouse is still as coveted today, it’s the perennial appeal of leopard print that is most notable. This year, it was the standout style moment of CFW.
