Prada launches its first adaptive skincare range

The fashion house’s first beauty line launched this week and ranks high on sustainability with innovative technology

Six unique faces have been chosen to front the first Prada Beauty campaign which was shot by photographer and director Tim Elkaim with director of photography Benoit Delhomme

Prada has introduced a new skincare range that uses what it has termed ‘Adapto.gn Smart Technology’, a multi-potent complex that it says contains a world-first, with properties that help skin adapt to its environment in real-time. Using natural actives called adaptogens – a family of 15 rare plants that have evolved over 400 million years to withstand extreme conditions across geological ages – their essence is mixed with Proxylane, hyaluronic acid, vitamin CG (also known as Ascorbyl Glucoside, a synthetic form of Vitamin C that can provide antioxidant protection and anti-ageing properties), and ceramides.

Augmented Skin The Cream (Refillable), €355, Prada Beauty

These adaptogens have been harnessed into a breakthrough technology for Prada’s adaptive skincare. The range includes the Prada Augmented Skin The Cream, Day & Night in 60ml, The Serum for Face & Eye in 30ml and The Cleanser & Makeup Remover in 125ml. With over three years of development, it comes in an eco-conscious formulation, processed without raw materials from the petrochemical industry and a refillable design allowing for 86 per cent less packaging compared to repurchasing a full new product.

The makeup range comprises lipsticks in two matte options and comes in 13 shades, referencing the mattified lips seen on Prada runways since the brand’s first Ready-to-Wear show in 1988. Drawing from the Prada fashion archive that holds 27,000 textiles and patterns, the eyeshadow palettes are in six colourways. Lipsticks start at €44.50 with palettes priced at €65 while skincare ranges from €355 for the Cream.

The collection has launched this week online at prada.com and brownthomas.com and is launching at Brown Thomas Grafton Street on December 11th.
