Planning, not personalities, will get us through Brexit

‘Continuity’ will be less important than being persuasive with Britain while remaining on side with Brussels

The coming weeks will see the transition to a new Fine Gael leader and Taoiseach to replace Enda Kenny, as well as the opening of formal Brexit negotiations. Despite having received considerable attention at this early stage of the Brexit process, the role of personalities and the matter of continuity during the Irish leadership transition are relatively unimportant.
