How can we deal with the nursing home paradox?
Hotels and nursing homes would seem to have a similar business model, but banks baulk at plans to build outside the greater Dublin area
I was speaking to a colleague recently who expressed some surprise at the apparent lack of new nursing homes being developed around the country.
“You would think,” he said, “that with all the talk of a chronic shortage of beds everywhere that new facilities would be coming on stream now. Just look at the hotel industry, when there is a shortage of beds, they simply go out and build more.”
