Lane says Irish banks face a challenging environment

Irish banks continue to face a challenging operating environment as they continue to deal with legacy issues such as non-performing loans while also grappling withfuture challenges such as Brexit, the governor of the Central Bank has said.

Philip Lane told the Oireachtas committee on finance, public expenditure and reform that the implications of Brexit for both the Irish and European financial system depended on the agreement reached between the UK and the EU.
