The government has sought legal advice on breaking the link between greyhound and horse racing funding, the Business Post can reveal.

Ahead of the budget, the Department of Agriculture considered decoupling the two sports and ending the mechanism which grants funding to Greyhound Racing Ireland (GRI), which was known as the Irish Greyhound Board until last month, in line with that of Horse Racing Ireland (HRI).
