Private hospitals have warned that patients are being left with inadequate health insurance cover, with many plans failing to cover core treatment areas.

The Private Hospitals Association (PHA) said members had seen an increasing number of patients left without adequate cover in key treatment areas including cancer, cardiology and orthopaedics.
