GPs mull cap on patient numbers in free care row

Doctors’ union slams government scheme as ‘electioneering’ and declares it ‘out of the question’

GPs are to debate whether to restrict the number of patients they will see each day, in response to the government’s announcement to roll out free GP care to more children.

The executive council of the National Association of General Practitioners (NAGP), which claims more than 1,400 members, held an emergency meeting last Friday and has decided to put the proposal to GPs at its national meeting on November 7.
