Whatever kind of week you are having it is likely to have been more relaxing than Paddy Cosgrave’s. The Web Summit founder and chief executive has found to his cost that it is one thing to taunt Middle Ireland but another thing altogether to pontificate on the Middle East.
The company’s flagship event is facing difficulties with both Intel and Siemens having withdrawn from next month’s conference in Lisbon, as we exclusively revealed on Thursday. The withdrawals come after Cosgrave endured a backlash following comments made on X (formerly Twitter) regarding Israel’s response to Hamas’s attack earlier this month. Cosgrave was forced to apologise for the comments but it doesn’t seem to have brought an end to the matter.
