Regan Solicitors keep it in the family to scoop service award

Mother and daughter team Ursula and Niamh Regan are based in Blackrock, Co Dublin and offer a personalised service

Ursula and Niamh Regan with their award an impressive Bronze win at the recent Family Business Awards

Mother and daughter law firm, Regan Solicitors, secured an impressive Bronze win at the recent Family Business Awards, an accolade in recognition of the dedicated hard work carried out by the firm.

The award was in the hotly contested category of Professional and Business Services Family Business, something that partner Niamh Regan said made the win even more impactful.

“In comparison with a lot of other businesses in that category we’d be pretty small, and perhaps wouldn’t have the same resources as the big firms,” Regan explained.

“So to go up against those firms, and get that recognition means a lot to us, we’re absolutely delighted!”

But it’s the fact that the family firm, based in Blackrock, Co Dublin, can offer such a personalised service that Regan feels often resonates most with clients.

Why in the news: Bronze Winner in the category of Professional and Business Services Family Business at the Family Business Awards

Since 2016 Niamh Regan and her mother, Ursula Regan, have been in partnership at their general practice, advising and assisting clients across a wide range of legal issues.

The firm is deeply rooted in the Blackrock community, with long-term clients often returning for help with on the many legal issues that can arise through the course of everyday life. It’s this repeat custom and build of trust that Regan says is vital to the practice’s continued success.

“They are the backbone of our practice, the people who have been with us for years,” she explains.

“People might buy a house, move house, want to make a will. They may have had an accident, wish to make a power of attorney or had an issue with their employment, and they come back to us because we’ve built that relationship with them.”

We’re out in the community all the time, talking to people and they get to know us

She continues: “We’re out in the community all the time, talking to people and they get to know us. Perhaps we’re just signing a form for someone but then later they’ll come back in to see us for another legal issue, because they know we’re familiar faces.”

It’s this kind of personal service that Regan feels stems from the fact that the business is a family one. It’s also a source of pride that, where many family firms often tend to be father/son, Regan Law is a little bit unique in being mother/ daughter.

“I think people like the family dynamic,” smiled Regan. “It’s definitely something I feel has benefitted our business.”

Ursula Regan specialises in family law with daughter Niamh in general practice, leaving the firm able to advise on property law, family Law, litigation, employment law ...virtually everything.

As a multi-generation law firm, with such extensive expertise, it means a lot to the Regans that they’re now seeing a second generation of clients emerge too.

Great demonstration

“There are children of people who have been with us for years who have now got older and need a solicitor, maybe because they’re buying a house, and seeing that next generation come through is such a great demonstration of the trust that’s been established,” said Regan.

Regan Law has several major cases to prepare for in 2024 but otherwise their focus will, as always, continue to be on providing the best possible service for clients.

“We have a busy practice here and we both work extraordinarily hard, so to receive this award is a nice recognition of all that hard work we’ve been doing over the year” said Regan. “But looking ahead we’re committed to continuing to support the community, work hard and make sure all our clients are looked after – that’s what we always aim to do.”
