New routes take off at Cork Airport

Cork Airport has supplanted Knock and Shannon as the country’s busiest regional transportation hub.

With more than two million passengers passing through the Farmers Cross site in 2015, it has doubled the number of travellers through Knock, and has remained busier than Shannon since overtaking the Clare-based airport in 2008.

Part of the success of Cork Airport can be traced to its geographic location, just seven kilometres from the country’s second-largest urban area.
