This year has been a sad and trying one for many people, but at least we can now see the beginning of a happy ending to the coronavirus story. It took scientists less than a year to develop vaccines against a virus that did not even have a name a year ago, and which by mid-December had caused the deaths of more than 1.6 million people worldwide.
