Tánaiste refuses to say if De Valera was wrong to offer condolences after Hitler’s death on Israel visit

Historical episode has been raised in the Israeli media as an example of Ireland’s apparent ‘antisemitism’

Tánaiste Micheál Martin visited the the Holocaust Remembrance Centre in Isreal this afternoon: “Of all people I wouldn’t attach antisemitism to Eamon De Valera.”

Tánaiste Micheál Martin has refused to say whether Eamon De Valera’s offering of condolences to Germany after the death of Adolf Hitler was wrong, despite it being raised in Israeli media as an historical example of Ireland being “antisemitic”.
