Storm Debi leaves 84,000 homes and businesses without power

ESB has said it will to work late into the night to restore electricity lines

Around 100,000 homes and businesses were without power early Monday morning as Storm Debi sweeps across the island of Ireland.

The ESB has been working to restore electricity lines, with 84,000 still impacted, according to the semi-state body.

Heavy winds and fallen trees have been reported across the country as local authorities begin to assess the damage.

There has been coastal flooding in Galway City and nearby Oranmore.
