Penalise firms that deny workers collective bargaining rights, Ictu tells TDs

Union also to advise government against handing out public contracts to companies that do not engage in collective bargaining

The government should penalise companies that deny their workers collective bargaining rights, and should not hand out public contracts to such firms, the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (Ictu) will tell TDs.

Ictu, the umbrella for dozens of Irish unions, will also tell members of the Oireachtas enterprise committee that the state has facilitated the denial of collective bargaining rights to staff with a lack of strong legislative provisions.
