Paschal Donohoe has said he won’t be drawn into commentary over the future of private sector pay in Ireland amid calls for unions to push for increases for employees of between 4 and 6 per cent.

The public expenditure minister was speaking following government approval of the new public sector pay deal, which would see pay increases of 10.5 per cent over a two and a half year period for public sector workers in Ireland.
