EU inches toward fiscal deal as year-end deadline looms

European Union finance ministers are still scrambling to find an agreement on new fiscal rules for the bloc.

“We have made essential progress,” French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said Friday. “It should be possible to reach an agreement before the end of the year.”
