Tony O’Reilly jr has formed a consortium with ESB and Bord Gáis Energy to invest more than €500 million to redevelop the decommissioned reservoirs in the Kinsale gas field to store green hydrogen.

DCarbonX, a company co-founded by O’Reilly, struck a deal with ESB back in 2021 to carry out assessments for such a project. Bord Gáis, which is owned by Centrica plc, the British energy giant, has now joined the Kestrel project as a ...
