Dublin-based Europlan has been awarded a contract for development of a subsea power cable manufacturing factory in the Scottish Highlands alongside Japanese multinational Sumitomo Electric.

The factory, which will be based in the Port of Nigg, is part of plans to build “resilient supply chains” for the offshore wind and renewable energy sectors.

The contract value was not disclosed, but Leo Clancy, chief executive of Enterprise Ireland said it was a “high value”. Previous reports ...
