Data centre operator introduces plan to feed energy back to the grid

Digital Realty, the data centre operator, has partnered with energy management company Enel X to allow its facilities in Ireland to feed energy back to the electricity grid during periods of high demand.

The company, which operates 9 co-location data centres in the greater Dublin region, said it is rolling out grid-balancing battery banks that can redirect electricity from the power grid to help maintain stability.
