Crypto currency seeks a European refuge

With the US increasingly playing hard ball with crypto firms, many are looking to Europe as a safe haven

US regulators have not pulled their punches in trying to rein in the crypto industry

In August, the US arm of Bittrex, a cryptocurrency exchange, agreed to pay $24 million (€22.3 million) in a settlement reached with financial watchdog the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The levy stemmed from an investigation by the American regulator into the exchange for selling unregistered securities, all part of a broader crackdown in the US on major cryptocurrency exchanges.
