Cost of West of Ireland road upgrade soars by ‘eye-watering’ €250 million in three years
The 34km N5 Ballaghaderreen to Scramoge is now going to cost €450 million
The upgrade of one of the “worst sections of primary road in the country” has more than doubled in price from €200 million to €450 million.
The cabinet signed off on the new contract today to build the 34km N5 Ballaghaderreen to Scramoge road project in Roscommon last January.
The new road will upgrade the national route between Dublin and Mayo, bypassing the towns and villages of Frenchpark, Bellanagare, Tulsk and Strokestown in Roscommon.
