Companies office halts strike-offs after 1,500 businesses shut in error

The Companies Registration Office said it regretted the errors and any confusion they may have caused

The CRO, which is under the Department of Enterprise, is now scrambling to rectify a series of “errors” which led to the invalid striking off of the firms

The Companies Registration Office has suspended its entire involuntary strike off process after admitting to invalidly shuttering more than 1,500 companies.

As the Business Post revealed last week, the CRO was accused of amending online documents to falsely portray that the struck off company was given a public 28-day warning notice. It was threatened with legal action by representatives of affected firms.
