Bank of Ireland has warned consumers to be vigilant of fraud and scams ahead of the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales later this month.

The sales, which follow the US Thanksgiving holiday on November 23, are expected to attract significant activity from cyber criminals the bank said.

Last year, Bank of Ireland customers spent 54 per cent more on Black Friday than on a typical Friday with clothing and electrical goods proving particularly popular.
