Even before the riots and the brutal attacks in the north inner city on American tourist Stephen Termini and Ukrainian actor Oleksandr Grekov, the vibe had changed to one of menace in some areas.

Do we really need a high-level taskforce and 12 weeks to tell us what is going wrong in Dublin? Most of us in this city know exactly what the problem is, even if there are those who aren’t willing just yet to say it out loud.
