There are enough reasons for angst in Europe’s largest country but growing support for the AfD is the gravest threat facing it

Germany is grinding to a halt. A six-day train strike began on Wednesday as railway workers demanded a shorter working week, crippling the economy and commerce with some of its neighbours. The strike is evidence of the poor state of the railways, and of a breakdown in relations between employers and unions that used to be unheard of in Europe’s largest country.
