Susan O’Keeffe: Binning labels is just a bandage in the bigger food waste battle

The real challenge food waste presents is the enormous impact that rotting food poses for the environment

Would it be cynical to suggest that large supermarket chains in all well-developed countries loved the ‘best before’ labels on fresh produce? And that this week’s decision in Ireland to see more supermarkets remove these labels is not something they ever really wanted to do?
