There has been a lot of chatter around the future of golf since Saudi Arabia’s attempt to buy the sport’s soul.

The PGA Tour’s recent response of securing $1.5 billion from Strategic Sports Group (SSG) to allow its co-investment with the rival Saudi Public Investment Fund, has led to many questions.

Not least among them being why would astute business people such as John Henry, the owner of the Liverpool and the Boston Red Sox, Steve Cohen, the owner of the New York Mets, and Arthur Blank, owner of the Atlanta Falcons, invest in the PGA through SSG when it is in such a difficult position?
