The Wagner leader became a marked man after his short-lived challenge to the Russian president’s power base
The likely assassination last week of Yevgeny Prigozhin, the controversial leader of the Russian Wagner militia group, reads like something from a Cold War spy novel. It is difficult to imagine that a modern-day president could simply order the elimination of a plane with an enemy on board, yet that appears to be what happened.
