Letter from America: Trump’s nomination is inevitable even if his base is less motivated

Late on Monday afternoon last week, about four hours before the Iowa Caucuses were scheduled to begin, I arrived at the Thunderbowl in Council Bluffs. Dubbed The Gateway to the West by Abraham Lincoln, Council Bluffs is a modest town of about 60,000 people in southwest Iowa, nestled up against eastern bank of the Missouri River which separates Iowa from Nebraska.
