Claims that a vulture fund is swooping in on Ireland’s forests are wildly wide of the mark

To judge by the remarks of a handful of TDs last week, a literal land grab is going on under our noses. The narrative that has developed is that an international vulture fund is joining up with Coillte, the state-owned forestry company, to buy land to plant private forests thanks to massive taxpayer subsidies, and will eventually reap huge profits from it.
