Hotels surge back from Covid slump into bumper 2023

New report shows that Ireland’s hotel operators have been able to push up prices to offset strong rises in energy, food and staff costs

The last three years have undoubtedly been a rollercoaster for Ireland’s hospitality industry.

The onset of the Covid-19 pandemic forced the government to introduce unprecedented public health measures, which significantly curtailed the industry’s ability to trade.

And once those restrictions were over and the economy was fully reopened, businesses then had to grapple with the highest inflation in 40 years as the cost of energy, food and staff all soared by double-digits.
