Since the last general election in 2020, Sinn Féin has touted itself and has been touted as a government party in waiting.

Describing themselves as agents of change, they have painted themselves as the only ones ready and able to clear up the mess, as they see it, created by the Fine Gael-Fianna Fáil duopoly.
