Editorial: Ireland is right not to make empty gestures about Israel

The government is right to highlight the plight of Palestinians in the face of Israel’s extreme actions, but it must not get too far ahead of EU allies

There is no end to the suffering of the people of Gaza. More than four months after Hamas terrorists murdered 1,200 Israeli civilians in their homes and farms on October 7, Israel’s retaliation in the overcrowded enclave becomes ever more extreme, and the toll of Palestinian dead climbs inexorably to 30,000.
