The US has little credibility to claim global leadership or moral authority if it is unable to defend its own democracy
On January 6 last year, a mob incited by a sitting president launched a violent assault on the US Capitol, the grandiose edifice in Washington that is home to the Congress of the American people. It was the most atrocious act of sedition against the Republic and its institutions since the Civil War, and it was broadcast live to a horrified world.
