Cop28: Ireland has reason to talk up its climate ambitions on the world stage

As the two-week UN conference got underway last week, there were the usual grumblings about rhetoric not being matched by action

Giving the opening address to the United Nations Cop28 climate conference in Dubai on Friday, Britain’s King Charles urged world leaders to generate the same kind of willpower that had led to the landmark Paris Agreement at Cop21 in 2015.

“I pray with all my heart that Cop28 will be another critical turning point towards genuine transformational action,” he said.
