Business Post view: Coming out top in league of EU’s most expensive countries no surprise to most

Eurostat has confirmed what many of us already knew or instinctively felt – that Ireland is the most expensive nation in the EU

Ireland often appears at or near the top of league tables that rank countries on issues such as education, human development or competitiveness. We ranked second in a list of the world’s most competitive economies in a report published a few days ago by IMD, a business school in Switzerland. In 2019, the United Nations ranked Ireland third in its Human Development Index, a measure of a society’s stability and security.
