Biden administration continues hardline approach to asylum seekers

The harsh treatment and deportation of Haitians seeking to cross the border from Mexico into Texas has caused concern and disquiet among Americans

On September 9, hundreds of Haitian migrants started to cross the Rio Grande from Mexico into Del Rio, a town of around 8,000 people on the border between Texas and Mexico. Carrying little other than what they could hold above their heads as they waded through the river, they sought refuge from the broiling heat beneath the Del Rio International Bridge that connects Del Rio, Texas and Ciudad Acuna, Mexico.
