Huge disparities in growth of management teams at comparable institutions
Similar-sized hospitals have up to five times as many senior managers, new figures show.
Detailed HSE data obtained by this newspaper shows huge anomalies in management numbers.
Beaumont Hospital in Dublin had 37 senior managers, compared to just 8 in Cork University Hospital. Beaumont Hospital has 842 beds while Cork has 800 beds.
The data also shows that management ranks have doubled at a number of hospitals over the past three years.
