New car sales up almost 24 per cent in first half

Figures from the Central Statistics Office show that 97,490 new cars were licensed in the first half of this year, a rise of 23.9 per cent compared with the same period last year.

The number of imported cars licensed rose by 25 per cent compared with the same period in 2015. The new car figure for June was 4,143, an increase of 5.6 per cent compared with June last year.
