Fianna Fáil candidate Jim O’Callaghan has broken with the party line by calling for coalition with Fine Gael to be considered in the event of a hung Dáil.

Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin has repeatedly ruled out any coalition with Fine Gael.

But O’Callaghan, the brother of RTÉ presenter Miriam O’Callaghan, said that it was unlikely anyone would be elected Taoiseach when the Dáil returned on March 10 based on recent opinion polls.
