Employers must tread extremely carefully when terminating a worker’s employment, making sure to do everything by the book

The requirements regarding dismissal generally depend on the terms of the contract and related policies.
If the contract provides that the disciplinary procedure does not apply to employees on probation, for example, the company is not contractually obliged to follow it.
