A new cinema subscription service could be the one to rescue an industry in distress

In movie parlance, think of MoviePass as Uber meets Netflix. As Hollywood producers would say, it’s the same as hugely successful monthly subscription services like Netflix, HBO and Amazon Prime, only different.

In less than six months, MoviePass has attracted more than two million subscribers in the US. And it’s growing exponentially. In August 2017, it had 20,000 subscribers. By December, it had passed the 1.5 million mark.
