Microsoft and Google square up in Windows fault revelation row

A vulnerability in Windows 8.1 led to two of the world’s largest IT firms squaring off last week, with security implications for Irish firms.

Google revealed a fault in Microsoft’s Windows 8.1 operating system before Microsoft had a chance to patch the issue. Security consultant Brian Honan said he was surprised Google didn’t give Microsoft extra time beyond its 90-day limit to address the issue.
