Keeping a clean bill of health

As a public sector entity, the HSE faces a number of challenges unique to Irish organisations – but the key is a mixture of old and new, writes Quinton O’Reilly

For better or worse, WannaCry has brought the security of public institutions into sharp focus. With Britain’s NSA falling victim to ransomware, much attention was placed on how it used machines running Windows XP, which Microsoft originally ended support for back in 2014 (it released a patch for it shortly after the attack).
