The principles of business continuity are well understood, but execution still leaves a lot to be desired, according to Irish service providers. Ian Campbell reports

As businesses become more dependent on information and communications technology, and the vast quantities of data it generates, the need for backup and disaster recovery (DR) solutions becomes even more critical. The risk of lost productivity and lost data has financial implications that could be substantial enough to bring a business down, but like insurance plans and pensions, the logic of needing one is often undermined by human nature, the temptation to save money in the short term rather than worry about the future.
