Government-backed blockchain hackathon takes place in Dublin

The first government-supported blockchain hackathon took place in Dublin last month at Trinity’s Innovation Academy. Blockathon Ireland was hosted by the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform from January 25 to 27.

“With the Blockathon, the government aims to learn more about how blockchain works and to explore how technology can potentially improve the delivery of public services,” said Mai Santamaria, head of the financial advisory unit at the Department of Finance.
