What does the future hold?

What's your name?

Alan Holmes

What position do you hold?

Management consultant

How long have you held the position?

1 year

What are your day to day responsibilities?

Advising clients on digital transformation, linking their people and technology to deliver better and more profitable customer outcomes.

What is your professional background?

I've been in the Insurance sector for 12 years. I've previously worked in Banking and Finance in Europe and the US, and started my working life as a trainee accountant with KPMG.

Tell me about yourself away from work?

I live in Dublin but I'm originally from Limerick, so I'm flying red flags in a sea of blue. We have three young kids and my wife's a paediatrician, so it's a busy household.

Tell us something very few people know about you?

I've just signed up for a Hell & Back In the Dark event..... If I'm here I've survived!

You are speaking at the 2016 Future of Insurance conference. What is your talk about?

I've been asked to talk about 2030! There will definitely be driverless cars, robots and who knows what else. Will we even own cars to insure? Will we work in offices? How and where will we live? It's the graveyard slot, but the best topic.

What challenges do you see for the insurance sector?

Attracting and retaining the best people, figuring technology, becoming more customer centric and balancing all this with the evolving regulatory frameworks.

Where would you like to see the industry in 10 years time?

In a position of trust with consumers, by taking advantage of rapidly changing technology and the great people that work in the industry.

Alan Holmes, Founder and Director of Websure Digital Finance will be speaking at The Sunday Business Post Future of Insurance Summit on November 18 at The Gibson Hotel in Dublin. Seewww.futureofinsurance.ie for further details.
